Vegan Loaded Potatoes
Warm and full of oomph

Luckily, French fries are already vegan except for Mc Donald’s fries because they throw in an additional beef flavoring substance. Why? Before it was cooked in animal fat with milk, then switched it to vegetable oil until people were complaining about what happened to the additive of the beef flavoring.

Shocked? I was.

Don’t worry though, the fries won’t be boring. We will add some seasonings to it, and let me tell you it changes the game! When I have fries by itself, I gravitate to these simple and savory seasonings. Come on don’t just add salt to it! Wonder why you dream of restaurant fries and not yours?

Let’s talk about Five Guys and WingStop. Before I was vegan when I went to these joints, their fries were so memorable. Five guys use peanut oil, salt, and other seasonings. From the taste of wing stop they use salt, pepper and sugar for their fries! Smart, I suppose.

This is why.

They use special seasonings to spice up their fries and have a characteristic to them. That’s what branding is too. They can’t just have normal fries if they have competitors everywhere!

So, never had amazing and flavored homemade fries? I have a simple solution to make these vegan loaded fries fire!

So lets make these vegan loaded fries POP!

Few things I should address.

Vegan Cheese

The cheese I use for this recipe is Violife Cheddar Cheese. It melts really good and it is more dense then Daiya cheese, but that is my opinion. Also, it taste so good! So happy my cousin suggested me getting it.

Vegan Bacon

If you are wondering about the bacon I had used for this recipe, it was LightLife. It was okay by itself, but not the best I have tasted. If you already know a vegan bacon brand you personally like, stick with them! Although, when it was evenly spread out on top of the fries and toppings it was a good addition to the fries.

Fun Steps

Preparing the potatoes

Prepare the oven at 380 degrees Fahrenheit. Cutting the fries the same shape is difficult but just remember how math comes into play. On the cutting board have one potato on it one by one. Slice the potato in two, long ways. Next grab one of the slice you had recently cut and cut it into two again, long way. Now just slice them into the width you want your fries to be. I think have an inch or a little under a half inch would be a perfect slice. After cutting one of the half of the potato do the same thing to the other half. The key is to have each French fry the same size so it cooks evenly. Once you are done with the 4 potatoes, rinse them in water or soak them in water for a few minutes to drain the starch from the potatoes.

Potatoes soaked in water

Place the fries on a pan, or two pans if they do not fit, because mine didn’t fit into one. Spread the fries evenly and sprinkle the seasonings to the fries to both of the pans. If you think it needs more seasonings add it when it is done so you can try the potatoes after. Since, the potatoes I used may be different sizes to yours.

Guacamole

It is important to use ripe avocados for guacamole. If not it will be slightly bitter and difficult to mash. When picking out your avocados they should be soft enough to make an indent but should not be bruised all around. TIP, carefully remove the seed with scooping it out with a spoon if you are scared like me to stab it with a knife to take it out. My ratio of how many limes to use for guacamole is 1:1. This is what I think is best for me cause I love the sourness from the lime. Last ingredient would be cilantro. I like to keep it simple and only use these two ingredients to add in to the avocado mash. It is easier to use a nutri-bullet but I like cleaning less things if you know what I mean… LOL!

Guacamole

Pico De Gayo

Start with cutting the tomatoes into small cubes. It is always easier to use the method to slide your knife through the tomato. Use a sharp knife but be careful! I forgot to add the onion, so please if you were to add an onion use red onion. It is a sweeter kind of onion and best for Pico de Gayo! The brand of the hot sauce I used for the Pico de Gayo was Cholula. I also like to add some cilantro and lime too.

Cholula Hot Sauce

Beans

You can either serve with the beans out of the can, bag or warm it up with the cheese in the oven.

Lastly

For the cheese to nicely melt on top of the fries, leave the oven at the same temperature and let the cheese softly ease between each French fry. This is where I added the beans and also the bacon to warm them up. I left it in the oven for 10 minutes. It is optional but if you want it to melt faster, cover it with foil. I didn’t just to produce less waste.

Once it is out of the oven, add the guacamole, pico de gayo, extra slices of cilantro, some hot sauce, and a squeeze of lime.

Voila, There it is.

Yummy, colorful, abstract, and captivating to look and to eat.
